Hello, noob here.

I did a search but didnt find much about this.

When I enable the SEO via .htaccess it works but the titles of the forum and threads are not descriptive ie. forum1 or thread1 instead of the forum or thread name.

Is that normal?

Yes thats normal, there is the Google SEO plugin which does what you want however I am not sure if its 1.6 compatible.
