No, calm down, I'm not asking about a good hosting recommendation. I know multiple websites which sell VPS' with around 300GB bandwidth, 500-1GB Ram, 20GB storage etc for $15 USD/month. I'm currently paying $10 USD/month for:
10GB Space
Unlimited Bandwidth
1GBit/second line, shared hosting though.
Dedicated IP

I'm thinking, should I scrap all that and begin purchase hosting with a VPS? What would I be better off using?

If money is a necessity, I can easily make some. I have my methods (legal), so yeah. Big Grin

Feedback, replies, whatever is appreciated.
A VPS is great to have and personally I found it hard to go back to shared Toungue. But, you have to remember the really cheap ones usually don't have much hardware and don't come with a control panel(in other words be ready to use google a lot).
VPS, if you have unlimited bandwidth, thats your first problem.

I wouldn't consider unlimited b/w a problem. If you're planning to deal with massive files (IE UE3-based games) then it's nice to have.

Many hosts have unlimited bandwidth, it doesn't mean the speed is any better. I honestly would rather 300GB Bandwidth since it's all dedicated to my forum.

I really dislike Linux servers.

Actually limiting the bandwidth can mean better speed because even a 100mbps line doens't give you unlimited bandwidth. Your limited by the speed at which it can transfer information.

If you don't like linux your going to be paying a lot more for a VPS....
You don't like Linux? Good luck finding affordable hosting, then.

Then find a Windows host. More expansive and a crappier http server, lovely. Plus they'll probably give you that half-assed cPanel port for Windows (Encompass?). RAM-hog city.

This.
I do like Linux, heck, I use Ubuntu. Although setting up the servers can be a real b****.
