I am using the plugin found here on the forum under 1.4 with the slight change in version number and it is working fine on my forum.

The problem is how does Mybb do it with three different in a rows? Is it a different plugin? Or is it that they have it somehow configured in the portal settings?

We do not use a plguin for that, it is all done with CSS. Here is how we do it
