Are we allowed to change the ban message so instead of "You have been banned by the Akismet system" it says You have been banned by Derek the Spam Bot for spamming the forum
Without looking at the mod I imagine that is in the language file

Aslong as you don't distribute it, and use it for your forum only, I would say that's allowed.

Mybb is lgpl. So he should be able to redistribute it. Or wait, is this a plugin? I thought it was default.

Its a plugin, but it comes with MyBB.
How do I change this then? in the language files?
Go configuration > Languages > Select your language and edit akismet.lang.php
There is nothing in there to change the ban message.
