I am not for sure how to work MyBB. I downloaded it because it was free and another active forum I am on, is run by it......

I have no clue how to work it. I am clueless. Huh
OK, do you have a server that you can access?

Do you have a mysql database you can access?

By server, do you mean a forum that's already created.

I am downloading a MySQL right now.
OK, i can see your a complete noob at this. Smile

A server is something a webhost will have, like hostgator or steadfast. It's your little place on the internet , and it usually costs.

When you lease this space it will come with some tools to make working the internet easier as well as making it more advanced. One of these is an mysql database, you will need to create one when using the webhosts control panel.

If I've lost you, then you probably need to goto to www.hostgator.com or http://steadfast.net/ and read about what services they provide.

It's possible to do all of this on your own computer, but that's another story by itself.

So what about a free forum. The forum I'm on went from a free forum to a MyBB.

MyBB is free, thats just the software that runs on the tools that are provided from the webhost.

It's like if you buy coke, the can/cup is free sort of thing. In this case the can is a MyBB.
Not really possible. I imagine you are using a free hosting service and have either ipb or phpbb3 as your forum. If you want you can tell your users that you are moving and use a free mybb hosting service like this

http://www.createmybb.com/

Mybb is a free script. Not a free forum hosting place. Wink
