How to add favicon manually?

You don't.

Just create the image you want in PS or Fireworks, export it, rename to favicon.ico and upload to your root directory.

@above, just upload on root , it won't work

It would depend on the browser I suppose. I think some browsers support that but it's usually best to put the html bit in.

Make sure you have cleared your browser cache before testing.

place it in the same directory you have the MyBB index.php

It works for Opera, Firefox & IE as far as i know. Not sure about Safari.

I take it you mean firefox right?
