hi, just asking:
didn't the idea to give each forums/subforums custom image/icons make it into 1.6 or am i missing the option somewhere ?

Don't know where we said that was going to be a 1.6 feature...

hm back in the days i perceived this idea to be quite popular (including the plugin), so i thought this would be implemented in 1.6 "automatically" .. bad luck i guess.

Similarly to how phpbb has the option of adding "forum image" are we able to do that with mybb whether it be standard or plugin?

There is a plugin and tutorial for this and what's the difference between an image and icon? (an icon is just a form of an image..)

I don't think there's a free plugin for this. There's one at MyBB Central though, it's for 1.4 but works on 1.6 too - http://mybbcentral.com/thread-2676.html
