I'm sure this is a simple question but...

I'm coming from phpbb, do we need to upload the downloaded theme to our server?

or

Do we "Import a Theme" from the pc via acp?

After unzipping the file I have...

the actual "File/Folder" with contents inside
and, "XML Document"

Or

do we upload the folder to "/inc/plugins"

then import the XML via acp?

The file that you need to import is the XML, you can Upload it via the Admin CP or vía FTP.
The images you need to upload it via FTP.

And I place them where?

in the plugins folder?

No, The folder that contain the images sholud be Uploaded in the "images" folder and the XML via ACP

Upload the themes image folder to ./images/

Then import the XML file via the ACP.
