So I just bought a domain and setup MyBB, and until I finish constructing my forum I want to keep it closed. Do you think using the "board offline" feature is better than using my own "being constructed" page?

The board offline feature ensures that all parts of your board cannot be accessed unless your an admin. Using your own page would hinder this feature.
