I want to install this software on a windows server for my domain but my hosting company does not allow execution for anything. will this cause the software not to work properly? in the CHMOD section of the installation instructions it says that 4 folders need 777 settings which of course is all 3 permission settings. Filezilla tells me that the command is not understood when i try to set it (it also does this with 666). Am I completely out of luck with a windows server? thanks!

You need to chmod, otherwise your not going anywhere.

that's not the question malcom. the question is am I out of luck? can you chmod on a win server or not? if the host doesn't allow exec, it's over right?

My understanding is that it should just 'work' on Windows servers automatically because you can't set CHMODs. If that doesn't work then you'd probably need to talk to your host about it.

I would recommend getting a new host if they don't allow you to execute anything at all.
Find a host that deals with Linux servers is my best option.

this is apparently what happened. I did not MOD anything and the software installed just perfectly
