I have to agree with exdiogene. And bob's replies were completely unnecessary.
Here is the solution: We add a new rule: Thread starter may NOT reply to thread within 30 days of creating the thread.

I believe this will be effective because the majority of the time the argument starts when the thread starter trys to defend themselves. If the thread starter cannot reply, they will only receive honest opinions and will not sway thier "friends" to help defend thier site.

P.S. I've seen this work in another forum.

Erm.. look at the createbb.com thread? Exdiogene didn't reply for most of it.

I seriously would like to pitch the idea i pitched to TimB.

Make a 0 tolerance rule. You screw up once, you get no second try. This is ridiculous. Its always the same people. (Myself included) And the ones giving advice the same to it! Why not just save some effort. Yes it will require moving groups, yes it works, but then that what makes us different form phpbb and smf. we are a community. Not just a support site.
Yeah if it was me I'd just give a one week ban each time this happens.

The createbb thread was never meant to be a showcase thread. It was originally in the requests forums.

Another possibility would be to limit the number of posts a user can make to ONE. This way, you let all your comments out at once and cannot bash others who post after you about thier comments.

Indeed, regardless it was not followed.

Though i do like your second posts, and the rules already state that unless you are directly asked.

I mean one shot and gone. Lose all privileges to that forum. I know the team doesn't have time for our BS, and my idea is time consuming enough. If it is taken i think it should either be long term or by attitude adjustment in other forums on mybb.com
Even though the thread wasn't meant for Showcase, the One-Reply-Per-User is already a rule.

The rules right now are nothing because the staff are not enforcing them.
@AwptimusPrime :

Were you one of the few who really noticed that my thread was originaly in the "Requests/Services/Jobs" section before it was moved?

Because some people here believe that it was created in the "Showcase" section even if i can testify that i created it in the "Requests/Services/Jobs" section, as other members here can vouch for me because they seen it there at the beginning...

Thank you in advance for your answer.

What rules do they enforce? Honestly, I do not believe there is anything set in place. Each case is handled on a case-by-case basis and different staff members probably do different things.

I'm sure some of the staff didn't even know about the one post rule.

EDIT: On the same note, I believe the whole "no comments allowed" deal is garbage. You should not be able to post your forum if people can't give thier opinions. This is a community - not an advertisement site

Locking up threads is not a proper solution and its making things worse. The staff needs to find what causing the problem, like in the exdiogene CreateBB post Bob started everything with his harsh comment. Why exdiogene advertise thread got locked up because of that? Whats his fault? The problem maker doesn't get punished punished but the thread got locked up. I don't know how staff judge everything.
