I'm installing myBB for a client and when installing clicking "next" pops up asking me to save index.php I've not had this problem before!?
It's probably the host. You'd need to contact them.
Badly configured servers at some hosts can ask you to download the file.
Hmm, what's your suggestion?
I'm not sure, because I'm not a server expert, only an expert at MyBB (sarcasm) :p
Basically submit a ticket to your host then wait for a reply. If they dont reply change host (reccomend hostgator.com)

Well, it's not a problem with MyBB. It's a problem with your host.
Something to do with your CHMod me thinks. If it looks normal then ask you host because that really shouldn't be happening
Someone could download your config file lol.
I'm on a dedi, So was hoping someone could help with the problem, or may have experienced it before?
