My bad!
I didn't rename the htaccess.txt to .htaccess, it's working now thanks for your comments.
One issue now though, all the urls have Forum- before them. I can see some rules in htaccess that have Forum-, Thread- etc in them. Would removing these and removing them from within the seo plugin settings solve it?
