I plan to create a website (wordpress engine) with a forum

what is better for SEO (and by your own opinion):

1) mysite.com/forum (all outgoing forum links are closed)
or
2) forum.mysite.com

?
A subdomain or directory, doesn't make any difference SEO wise.

This.

But forum.mysite.com looks nicer. Smile
there is a difference
In the second case, for a search engines: site and forum are located on different domains (so it's 2 different sites for Search Engines), and this means that I need to promote two different "sites", isn't it?
There is very much a difference. A subdomain is considered its own site, a directory is not. For SEO, a directory is better.

Main reason I can see for putting a forum on a subdomain is to put it on its own server.
Yes, however it will not in any way affect your rankings.

It will very much affect your rankings. Rankings are not just based on one page. They are based on your entire website - including indexed pages. The more pages you have, the better you generally do since your website is more authoritative.

So, vote please! Because I can't decide.
On the one hand forum.mysite.com looks nicer, on the other hand mysite.com/forum is more correct Big Grin
if you only have a forum just put it on the root
otherwise, i'd say /forum
No difference. Do what you please.
