In all the software I've been to (not just MyBB), there seems to be a lot of blue themes, but never red? Are we discriminating against that colour? =/

Not really, it's just that red isn't a very popular color for redistributable themes. Since blue the most popular favorite color for men and women, it is the safest color to use.

Blue just works. Even if you start off with read people always request a blue version.

However I and many others do have some Red themes.
Ferron comes to mind with his cardinal. novus theme
