After deleting several threads or posts, there are huge gaps in thread numbers (tid) and posts (pid). Is there any tool to re-number those posts?

Umm, no as that would probably cause even more problems such links going to wrong post and not to mention everyone worrying about SEO now a days.

What Alex said, but it doesn't matter if there are breaks in tids and pids.
