If I wanted to upload from 1.4 to 1.4.14, would a direct update work? If not please guide me a little as to which upgrades to do.

Why not upgrade to 1.6 instead of an older version??
You've also got a lot of templates that you need to revert to default but you should do that after upgrading to 1.6.
I will upgrade to 1.6 I guess, I am having a few problems...
First, who's online page, page 2-3-4 dont work ends up on a 404 page..
Second, none of the plugins seem to work any more its trying to find a table called mybb_mybb_settinggroups which obviously doesnt exist..
I will revert most templates when done with the final upgrade.
If you're getting that then you've still got 1.2 plugins active, and the upgrade script from 1.2 > 1.4 explicitly says to deactivate. No 1.2 plugins will work on 1.4 or 1.6.
The online list will probably be broken because something's not been reverted or updated.
