Without a plugin (if possible), how would I be able to allow guests to see threads, but not see the content within the thread, if that makes any sense? I remember doing it in 1.4 but I absolutely forgot how I did it unfortunately.

I've tried using a plugin specifically for 1.6, but for some reason it deletes some forum buttons.

I think you'll need a plugin. There's options for showing a forum but not showing any threads, I'm not too sure about showing threads but not showing contents...

If some buttons disappear, perhaps inform the author?
