So we are doing this in school, i thought some of you might get a kick out of this education.

Here is an example of an argument you may use.

I think that the sky is blue because its gods favourite colour.

Now, that isn't a valid argument nor is it a sound argument. Though the following is a valid argument.

All men are strong.
TimB. is a man.
Therefore, TimB. is strong.

Thats deductive reasoning. Now whether that argument is sound or not is debatable. Though it is valid.

The following is also a valid argument.

Everytime i see Matt R he is busy.
Therefore, Matt R is always busy.

Thats inductive reasoning.

I got a kick out of this in class, we had a lot of fun learning it, so, discuss!
God we have too much fun and learn to much, it should be illegal
The second one is making a generalization, the first one is using mathematical logic really. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_logic )

Math is based off of that if i remember, Aristotle was the one who contributed that to logic.
Yup, deductive reasoning and mathematical logic are very similar.
How about :

Girls = time
Time = money
Money = evil

Therefore girls = evil.
But girls aren't time, they may consume your time and consume your money, which would take away evilness.
If your logic makes girls evil. Its wrong. Girls = epic. Epic = Kissez.

Girls = Money

Money = Girls happiness

Girls happiness = Kissez.

Kissez = Epic.

Therefore Girls = epic.
Same principle :p
True, it is the same principle. But mine has a happy ending. It ends with kissez. xD
