in addition to that, I can't even see forums although i am an administrator. At the end part of the installation It had a usergroup error. I have no idea how to fix.

When are you getting that error?

I can see the forums fine, it looks like there are some missing language files though, make sure all the files that belong in ./inc/languages/english are uploaded correctly.

Look in the mybb_usergroups table, how many rows are there, and what's in the gid column for each??
