What are your thoughts on the new ways to download movies? As far as I know http://www.movielink.com and http://www.cinemanow.com are the only two sites doing this at the moment.
For those that don't know what I am talking about you can now purchase and download movies online. For a couple of years you have been able to rent movies from places over the internet but now several movie companies are offering ways to download their media. The two links above both feature movies from seperate companies. Cinemanow seems to be a bit cheaper than Movielink for the moment but that could change in the future.
I am still not sure how the burning, viewing, and other schemes work yet but it is a step towards digital distribution of media. It may take a while to catch on but I'm sure it will take off. This is a great way for people who don't leave the house much to purchase their movies. All they would have to do is get a video card with an S-Video output and hook their computer up to their tv.
Most movies will be released with their DVD release or within 45 days. This is one way to counteract the illegal downloading of movies across the internet. We will just have to wait and see how many people take to the idea. Personally, I'm all for it, while I will still buy the majority of my new DVD movies at a local retailer there are older movies I will probably be purchasing online in the future. I give a big thumbs up to Hollywood and digital entertainment.
