Probably the best site at the minute for 1.6 plugins is the MyBB mods site as mentioned before. MyBBCentral and MyBBSource are also slowly converting their plugins.
To be honest though some of the plugins don't need changing at all. MyBBSource's form manager worked on 1.4 and 1.6 no changes required. All depends on the site and the plugin author.

I do have a subscription to both of those sites (mybb central soon).
Most of the MyBB-Plugins.com plugins have been released for MyBB 1.6 free on the mods site.
http://MybbAddons.com added the first 1.6 plugins and has a lot of 1.4/1.6 compatible plugins.
Our 1.4 plugins will be ported in the next weeks.
Over 160 plugins on
MyBBCodes.com are already compatible for MyBB v1.6 since a month ago...
