I want to place several forums inside my website, is there a way to set the preferences once so that all of the forums will be the same without having to change each one individually?

well it depends on what preferences!
if you mean only the settings part, and the usergroups, permissions etc..
set them on one board, then export the tables using the phpmyadmin, make sure to set them as to update when you import them somewhere else.
like that you can have all the things set on a board , copied to the other.

note that, you dont need to export the mybb_template and mybb_theme and mybb_users mybb_threads mybb_forums mybb_posts and some others, as you are only talking about preferences

so it's not but default in mybb, but you can do that, hopefully it works
