Won't do any good in the footer, needs to go right after jQuery is loaded.
Basically both jQuery and ProtoType use $ but they both can't use it at once. Either put all your jQuery code inside the noConflict function, or, what I usually do, go through all the jQuery code and change all the $ to jQuery, it should be OK then.
