I tried to set portal as homepage by adding code to the htaccess.txt file but it's not worked. I've also installed ProPortal
Did you rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess ?
try renaming index.php forums.php
and portal.php index.php and place a link in header to forums.php
What worked there was 2 suggestions.
