When I click on version check in admin cp or plugins I keep getting this

The following errors were encountered:

* There was a problem communicating with the version server. Please try again in a few minutes.

or

There was a problem communicating with the MyBB modifications version server. Please try again in a few minutes.

Any ideas?

Check if your host allows fetching the contents of remote files. It uses cURL so this will have to be enabled.

ok - it's www.000webhost.com - so poss not
