May oeace be upon you,
It would be cool if people who have been denied support be placed in a separate group and disallow then to create threads in any forums except in private inquiries. Else, there names should be coloured so as to distinguish them in other forums such as "Plugins & Code Modifications" etc.

Example: {removed by nayar}

Just my opinion

Nayar
The point of this is so that they're denied official support, plugin support isn't official support, and support staff don't often post in there.

Then again, they would still be using these forums for some kind of support even though they've broken the rules for support, although the rules are really only aimed at core MyBB support. I'll have a think about it.

Even if MySupport was enabled in that forum (which could be useful for people to see what is/isn't solved), people who were denied wouldn't be restricted to just the Private Inquirers forum.
What Matt said. It would be rather cruel to prevent people from posting anything in the forums if they got denied support.
What are "private enquiries"?

IMO I disagree with your logic, these folks aren't worth the effort of "separating" them from others.

Something I find almost as annoying as these folks trying to get help here, is other "wannabe Moderators" replying telling folks that what they are doing is wrong!! We have a Report system here, folks need to learn how to use it and let the real Moderators here take care of problems.

Threads in the private inquiries forum that has been in place for a few months now: http://community.mybb.com/forum-135.html

They wouldn't be separated though, that's what I'm saying, they'd be denied support in the same way as people get denied support now, but it'd just spread to the plugin/theme support forums too, instead of just the general support forums.
Maybe i am really too harsh about them. I was saying so because the whole forum is hosted on the official MyBB host under the administration of MyBB Group Blush

So, what should we do if they ask questions in plugin section? Any recommended official behaviour from members? Toungue

Just say to them that they are denied support Toungue (and give the reason as well)
lol

After reading Matt's post, it seems like they ARE eligible to get support from us there. Need a clear statement what to do about this.

I am puzzled
Problem is, when they're asking for plugin support, they're not asking for support for anything we've written, it's code the community has written, so would it be fair to impose our rules for general support to that too?? Putting it that way sounds like it's a bit unfair, however if they've been denied support for removing the Powered By message or having illegal content on their forum they probably should be denied there too.

Hmmmm...
This is just my opinion, but it's the main reason why I hesitate to offer support to people in the plugin forum. I can relate to Nayar's confusion.

However, I personally feel that if they are denied support, they should be denied support period.
Most plugin coders have their own site where they can offer support for their plugins. Or if a "Denied User" has a particular question to ask about a plugin, what's so difficult about them using the pm feature?
This is nothing personal against any member. I just think it would help cut down on the confusion a bit that a lot of us are experiencing. If I know the answer to a particular question, I don't think I should have to visit their site and scan through it to see if any of the rules are broken before offering my answer.
Maybe a restricted usergroup isn't such a bad idea.

This is gonna be a tough call for the staff here.
