That is correct.
Composite = 1 video channel
s-video = 2 video channels
Component = 3 video channels

Are there different models
I read the model codes are differentnonly because if their documentation.
Eg: happauge sells model 1212, bur amazon and play.com sell model 01128

Yes, there are different models. Some have FM tuners, some have Component Jacks, Updated Firmware, etc. etc.
Most models have the essentials though. Mine has a Composite Input, S-Video Input, ATSC Tuner, and FM Radio Tuner. Unless you're trying to get Full 1080 HD using the card, you won't need anything other than a basic model with the features mine has.
Also, if you get one, don't use the provided software. Only install the necessary drivers. The TV/Radio software that ships with it sucks hard. Just use it with Windows Media Center (if you're running Windows, of course). It'll work a lot better.
I would pull up my card, but NewEgg is being stupid slow today.
