How will I get around changing them?

You obviously did something wrong, or your cache needs to be cleared. URL to your board?

When you uploaded the images, did it ask you whether you want to replace the existing ones or not? If it didn't, you uploaded it in the wrong directory.

It did, and I chose to overwrite.
