Its XThreads - I think I would have moved on to another system (wordpress probably) a while ago if it wasn't for that one amazing plugin...

I agree, XThreads is doing impossible to possible.

After installing xthreads and the new plugin i get this:

Error Message For Admin
The WigiTalk Gaming Forums News Bar can't be run because of the following reasons:

* xtnewsbar setting not found
* xtnewsbar_class setting not found
* xtnewsbar_prefix setting not found

EDIT: Ok, I read the config thread and made it work, but is there now way to add bars without opening a thread for them, or maybe just hiding the thread?

EDIT 2: After playing with this plugin for a while I conclude that this is not what I need. It just complicates everything and still doesn't produce the end result I'm looking for.

Yaldaram's was the closest thing to what I need (with the exception of the paid one), since it had a simple setting in admin cp and the bar appeared above the forum and not below its title. XThreads requires you create a thread for each news bar, and links you from that news bar to the thread that holds it. It also limits the number of characters you can put in a bar.

I really wish to have a simple news bar that has a simple setting in admin cp, doesn't rely on other plugins and has a "close" functionality similar to a new pm.
