Another issue.
It might I have a private message but do not show any PM alert up forum (Yellow bar)
I think that it need a code to add to templates.
what is this code?
Go to the header template, find
{$bannedwarning}
{$bbclosedwarning}
add above
{$pm_notice}
Also make sure it's enabled in your User CP Options.
Also check:
UserCP > Edit Options > and see if you've "tick" the "Alert me with a notice when I receive a Private Message." option in "Messaging and Notification.". See picture for more details;
