I am re-building the server that I use to sell shared hosting. All the accounts are currently backing up to my backup server.
Which web server should I use?
If you're willing to pay for it I would say litespeed.
In my honest opinion i would say apache. But yet again, just my opinion. I don't know just seems safer because 95% of the hosts out there use it. Although that is just from what i have seen.
Lighttpd is good. Never used anything but Apache myself, but I know Youtube uses lighttpd.

Yeah, I saw that. I think I might go with it.
in my opinion it is between lighttpd and apache. I think cpanel has an extension for lighttpd, now is it going to interfere with the hosting panel or which ever one you use. I know that whmcs has a plugin for lighttpd.
Yeah, it's cPanel\WHM. It doesnt work out of the box with lighttpd?

Yes i agree, just got with apache for shared, it integrates with cpanel well and works well overall. Plus fast updates.
Apache is the safest and easiest option. That being said I voted Lighttpd because every web host uses Apache so try to be different to become more marketable.
Litespeed is my least favorite, their EULA actually tells you what you can and cannot host on your own server. TotalBS!
