Why do people insist that MyBB is open source? IT ISN'T. It is freeware.

It IS open source, you get the source while downloading; hence open source.
However it is not licensed under an open source license.

It's not really open source.
You get the code and you can modify the code, but you are not allowed to use it to publish it under an other name. But this is really off-topic and should be split.
Back on topic: I really like this myportal. I wanted to make something like hat, but abandoned it later. But now that you made it, I don't have to anymore

The definision of Open source is very vague depending on the people you ask.
I for one consider it open source if you get the source of the program.
However Wikipedia disagrees.
