Hi,
I got the following error during installation of 1.6.1, so the install page never showed up. Performed CHMOD on the listed files and directories. have gone back and checked everything twice now.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/18/d345337876/htdocs/henry/henryforum/inc/class_core.php on line 18

1and1.com is my host. Linux hosting, php5

Are you upgrading from 1.4.x ? Or its a fresh install ?
Are your templates default ? especially header template ?

Fresh install, everything default

New to MyBB, but have set up several phpBB forums in the past, so not a complete rookie, just a partial rookie Big Grin

It means some files are missing or didn't uploaded correctly. Please re-upload all the files.

Edit: What is your host's PHP version ? It should be 5.1 or higher.

Yes, this is due to having a version of PHP which is too old.
