That's for the standard MyBB SEO URL's.
Check that thread linked above, and also check that you do have htaccess.txt renamed to .htaccess.
No SEO installed yet... but good to know.. still can't fix it
nope... that wasn't it either
download htaccess.txt from your root forums directory
Open it using notepad,then click SAVE AS in drop downmenu select, Save As: All files
And save it with name:
.htaccess
and then upload that .htaccess to your root directory again and see if it works

That's the opposite of what you need to do, you need to make sure it's there and called .htaccess.

I changed my theme in the global settings, could that be the problem?
Then just disable the Search Engine Friendly URLs in the Server and Optimization settings, if it still doesn't work with the .htaccess file there, it sounds like your host doesn't support mod_rewrite.
