I'm having the same problem, through godaddy as well. This is frustrating.
PHP mail test was successful, but it took about 5-10 minutes to go through.

Oh, I fixed this and it works a bit better now. My new users get the email in like 15 minutes now. Do 2 things:
1) Go to your Hosting and go to your files on the server and find:
php.ini
And edit this:
max_input_time
and set it equal to 5.
2) Go to your MyBB Admin Control Panel > Tools & Maintenance > Task Manager > Mass Mail and select EDIT TASK
Then Put this for Time: Minutes
5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55,59
This should fix the problem slightly. Also, GoDaddy said they are having trouble on the server too, so this will not entirely fix it, but it significantly speeds up the activation emails finally.
