Please bare with me as I am learning as I go. I have looked at files and youtube videos and I know this has to be user error but I am having the hardest time getting my upgrade to run. I truly am clueless and two seconds to throwing my laptop OUT the window!

I have followed the directions, uploaded the material several times and still can't get the upgrade to run. Somehow in my haste of uploading plugin's (figuring to get those up THEN run the upgrade) I still haven't gotten it worked out and I feel like I have messed up my forum. So I created another one, no plugins, but once I get to this part:

Go to www.yourdomain.com/forumfolder/install/upgrade.php

I keep getting an error 404 that url doesn't exist or was moved.

Can someone advise what I am doing wrong because I am close to being at my wits end with this. I thought this would be fairly easy but this is not what I expected at all.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Are you actually going to http://YOURACTUALWEBSITEDOMAIN.com/MyBBR...pgrade.php or are you going to http://www.yourdomain.com/forumfolder/in...pgrade.php?

"http://www.yourdomain.com/forumfolder/install/upgrade.php" Doesn't exist, it's an example you're supposed to edit ;P

Yes I am going to MY actual web domain and it's not working. I have been at this for over a week. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the inquiry.
What's your url?
Well judging by the error you keep getting, you're either entering the URL incorrectly or you haven't uploaded the upgrade.php file to the correct directory. Look inside your install directory and see if upgrade.php is in there.

Also could you copy paste the exact URL you're trying to use? (just do http://domain.com/ if you don't want to show your site)

I appreciate the help, honestly.

Let me double check for the upgrade file.

Again thank you for trying to help me, cause I am utterly confused and frustrated at this moment.
Just checked and the upgrade.php file is located in the install directory. I knew it was since I have read many threads that would suggest that's my issue, but I think I am doing something else wrong and just can't figure it out. Especially since I had it occur with creating a new database that I deleted in frustration.
Hmm when I try to just access the /install/ directory I get a 404 error. Are you sure the /install/ directory exists in the root forum folder?

Do you mean in my root directory or in the directory where the forum is located? Either way it's in both places, could this be my error?

I can pm you if that will be easier to assist and I really appreciate your help. I know I keep saying that but I truly mean it.
I mean the root forum folder, so /forum/

Try Ch-modding (set the permissions of) the /install/ directory & files within to 777 temporarily.

Let me try.

Thanks!

Okay so after going back through the files the I didn't have the install directory, correctly, under the forum location. I have since added it and now I get an internal server error.

Now to figure what that is and hopefully I haven't wrecked anything. Still not sure if I am getting closer to my goal.

Thanks again for your help. It really means alot.
