I've been thinking about limits to put on new members as a way to control spammers. From reading here, it looks like a user group with automatic promotion after x posts is the way to go.
So I thought it might be nice for us to have a list of what we should limit, and what solutions are available. If this has already been done, please let me know.
Here’s what I have so far.
Limits put on new user group
1. No private message (to prevent pm spam)
Solution available in ACP
2. No signature line

3. Limit posts per day
Similar solution by limiting number of threads one can post in: http://mods.mybb.com/view/limit-number-of-threads
4. No links in control panel
There is a plugin that appears to remove the contents of the home page field in the ucp. But I don’t know if a user could enter a link in their bio instead. Also, I can’t tell if this can be directed at only some user groups:

5. No links in messages
I can’t find a solution for this.
