Hello,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question but I just give it a try.

At last I like to upgrade from MyBB 1.2.6 to MyBB 1.6 do I need to use the merge system?

No, the merge system is to merge or convert forums, you're not doing that... you just need the upgrade script. Backup your files and database, upload the 1.6.1 files so they overwrite your current files, go to yoursite.com/install/upgrade.php and choose 1.2.6 from the list.
