Even though the plans for 1.6 features were made public a year before 1.6 was released and 1.6 was in beta for a few months, meaning there was about a year and a half for this to be suggested?? The developers are not the only ones capable of suggesting new features during the development process you know. Besides, considering I don't think anybody else, or many people at least, has said they wanted this, during the 1.6 or 1.4 release cycle, I don't think it's a terribly major omission. If you need to edit a rep, you can delete it and re-add it, and this would not be hard to do as a plugin.
You could also, if you're the admin, edit the database.
