Is good idea have a link to do donations, helping to myBB, I know than myBB is using a server pentium 4 with savvis, the which monthly myBB is paying arround of $100 US
Then my suggestion, is put a link to do donations in each page of mybboard.net

is good idea, also is good idea add that, but many projects on sourceforge have a donations system

I would too - but I can't find a decent place which will do proper embroidery for a lower quantity, still at a decent price..
Normal CafePress shirts aren't the sort of quality I like (They're good - but not as good as a proper polo)
CafePress IMO is a tad too pricey for custom stuff... I just suggest you get a massive bunch of printed iron-on-transfers and flogg them.
