I have searched the forums and mods section for a good plugin to make a portal better than what is stock with the mybb install. Unfortunately all I can find are not being supported any more or not compatible with Mybb 1.6. Any suggestions?
Well, someone's working on ProPortal after DragonFever disappeared. Can't recall his name, sadly. ><
http://www.promybb.com/ is the place to download Pro Portal, but the site is down, any other options?
You can try and find a mirror for it, but you'd better be sure it's coming from a trusted source. Maybe try and ask in that thread if someone has a copy of the last release.
Depending on your level of skill in HTML you may be fine with the standard mybb portal. Give it a try.
I use the standard portal with a jQuery sidebar and some standard plugins. I think it looks ok.
how about this type of portal......any suggestions of making it???

Yes.

The first one is a standard mybb portal with a single sidebar. The inner panel is made using JQuery tabs and I think the ProStats plugin restyled.

The second is using a plugin for the latest comments (or just an edit to portal php), but otherwise as above.
i think its based off proportal,as proportal has a new page creation option.
and those pages are aligned in tabs using jquery.

looking forward for that tut from many days, but no progress...hope any one from there from soportemybb turns up and make it.....as the abv said sites are their babies

I´m using it and it´s working on mybb 1.6 with "blocks" feature, no problem at all

it´s great to create html blocks without modifying templates, it´s far more organized
