I just carried out the manual edits to take my forum from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2. I've spotted an error in the file edits your asked to make manually in the patch.txt file.
When your asked to edit the class_parser.php file. Your asked to replace some code with this below (but take note of the double quote marks at the very start), which will cause an error and stop your forum from loading.
I'm thinking it should have been replace with this instead (which I did and the forum error is now gone).
