Why would I downgrade from a huge free VPS to a shared host?
I want to see how big your forum is, and how "busy" the traffic is to determine whether your vouch for them is even valid.

A free VPS is probably worse than a free shared host.

Actually, some of my free VPSs outperform my $50/month VPS.

Then why do you have the $50/month VPS?

Some &

Paying for stuff = quality

So he has a quality VPS, and some free ones.

Sorry, but that makes no sense. If your free ones are doing better than the premium ones, than the premium company you were with weren't doing their job right, either that or your free vps host is just too epic, which on a budget like that, it does not happen very often.

By that logic, every paid forum system is a quality system. (and possibly implicitly better than free ones)
