Close BOTH boards. Otherwise users may do things on the old board while you're converting, and it'll get missed.

As for the permissions, some boards have problems bringing the permissions over. So just check them all before you re-open the new board.

If i rember rightly i had to reset all my permissions after coming over from smf.

Yeah, since permissions are a very easy and fast fix I haven't made it a priority to correct whatever is wrong with them just yet.
