I keep getting this frequent message:

2002 - Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (11)
Query:
[READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server

The forum goes down and displays this message usually for about 1 minute then after refreshing everything is back to normal

What is causing this?

This has nothing to do with MyBB. You'll need to contact your host regarding this issue.
