To remove the image/change the image you'll have to edit the global_pm_alert template:
Admincp >> Templates and Style >> **YOUR THEME TEMPLATES** >> Global Templates >> global_pm_alert

For the other stuff it seems your language files are not correct. You can check and edit the global.lang.php. the strings will be under newpm_notice_one and newpm_notice_multiple
