I need help on changing the theme of my forum.
I downloaded a theme from
http://mods.mybb.com but I do not know how to apply it to my forum.

1. you need to extract the theme to your hard drive
2. you need to upload the folder with your theme name into /images/"your theme folder name"
3. go to AdmincP >> Templates and styles >> themes >> Import theme >>
give the path to this file "yourthemefilename.xml" , check this box "Ignore Version Compatibility" (just in case) and hit import theme
4.Click on themes again and then click options on the theme you just imported >> set as default!
you are done!
Is it possible to upload it somewhere hidden, so that I can have a play about before scaring my users with a whole new and (possibly) worse layout?
yes, just don't follow the 4th step
If you want to use the theme yourself, but don't want to allow users to use it, import the theme following the steps above, but change the usergroups allowed to use the theme (in the theme settings) to only admin.
