So I'll be building my first PC... I'm don't understand it all that well... Not as well as I'd like to... So I'm just double checking... Will these parts all work together? And do you have any opinions on them?

Parts:

PSU -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=T13-2027

GPU -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=3670

Mobo -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=M452-6097

HD -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...SD-160AAJS

CPU -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=A79-0251

RAM -
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...u=C13-6166

My budget is around $300...
Yes that is all compatible Smile
No they're not all compatible Tom K. You picked out 204 pin laptop memory, you need 240 pin desktop memory for a desktop motherboard. I recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231395

Terrible PSU, also you don't need 500W. 300W should easily suffice. I recommend this power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6817151086

You're spending too much on the motherboard. I recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813157212

Besides from that, everything looks pretty good. You're missing a case though.

Newegg is usually cheaper than TigerDirect. Just fyi.
Woops...
Originally the GPU I had selected (Which is unavailable as of today I guess) required a 400w PSU...
I really appreciate the help.
I like the products you have shown... I'll probably go with them.
As far as a case... Do you have any recommendations? I'm not looking for a fancy case, just one that's cheap but keeps everything cool.
The Cooler Master Elite RC-310 is reasonably priced and looks pretty sleek, the cooling should be plenty for your build.

If you want you can talk to me over MSN, feel free to add me: [email protected]

oops, I looked at the rating and speed Confused It never occurred to me that it might be laptop memory
With that CPU i recommend at least an HD5750. And don't go for Corsair RAM, i had a very bad experience with them and many avoid them(for other reasons).

I don't recommend MSI and that chipset. Cause that chipset from MSI was known to burn the mosfets when overclocking. More so if it is an 4+1 phase design motherboard. You may or may not OC,but at least find a mobo that is 8+2 phase design AND/OR has a cooling on the mosfets.

And 300w PSU? Seriously? That leaves no headroom at all for upgrades and whatnot. I suggest at least 450-500w
Why do I need such an expensive GPU? I honestly don't plan on gaming that much. I don't mean expensive, I just mean it costs more than the one I had in mind. And I'll look around for a different motherboard. I'm not really looking for anything more expensive...
The whole purpose of the machine will be to allow me to play games likeMX vs ATV Reflex and the HL2 source engine... But more importantly allow for very fast multi tasking and such.

With a $300 budget he's probably not going to play any serious games, no need for a good graphics card.

Corsair RAM is fine, never judge a brand by personal experience (except for customer support).

Who said he was going to overclock? Also you can burn any MOSFET if you don't have heatsinks on them and are heavily overclocking, regardless of board.

>And 300w PSU? Seriously?

You gotta take into account the budget. Not everyone wants a blazing fast gaming PC.
