Assuming you use CPanel, here's what'd I do:

Open up the File Manager, choose your forum's domain from the dropdown list. Then direct yourself to 'images' directory then upload the rank archive from your computer.

Then go into your ACP, click the Users & Groups tab, then Groups on the side, then open up which group you want to add the rank.
In the user image box, type in '/images/ranks/userrank.ext (the userrank.ext is the rank image you want to associate with the group - like Administrator/Moderator/Registered, etc.

If you do not have cpanel then there is no file manager. You may have plesk or directadmin which have them, however, if you are running without a control panel then you need a ftp client.
